The Swan Lake

Kussharo Lake is located on the island of Hokkaido, Japan. During winter the temperature drops to -20°C and the lake freezes completely except for some areas that are kept free by the hot water of some thermal springs.
The whooper swans (Cygnus Cygnus) that populate the lake therefore concentrates in these areas.
